Rate each domain 1 (weak) to 5 (strong), as honestly as you can. Tick evidence only where you could actually prove the score with data, not just feel it. The domains aren't weighted equally: commercial performance carries the most weight, because it's the engine everything else runs on.
New to this? What the scale, evidence and weighting mean
You're scoring seven domains of business health on one scale, and marking which scores you can actually back up. Plain English below.
- Rate each domain 1 (weak) to 5 (strong), as honestly as you can.
- Tick evidence only where you could prove the score with data, rather than just feeling it.
- Read the weighted result, which points at your biggest weighted opportunity rather than simply your lowest number.
- The 1 to 5 scale
- How strong each domain is. 1 = weak, a real problem. 5 = strong, genuinely well run. Score where you honestly sit today.
- Evidence
- Whether you could actually prove the score with data, or it's a gut feel. Tick it only when you'd back the number with numbers.
- Weighting
- The domains don't count equally: commercial performance carries the most weight. So your lowest score isn't always your priority, because a small dip in a heavy domain can matter more than a big dip in a light one.

Possible blind spots
A self-score is a mirror, and mirrors flatter. A Commercial Assessment scores the same domains on evidence, which is the only reliable way past your own blind spots; when a domain is weak, the Value Chain Hotspot shows where inside it to act.
A structured self-assessment, not a verdict. Its value is in the harder look it prompts, not the number it produces. The domains interact, so a weakness in one often shows up as a symptom in another. Weights mirror APG's diagnostic (commercial 0.20; strategy, financial, operations and people 0.15 each; systems and owner alignment 0.10 each). Not financial advice.
The part you understand best is not always the part that matters most.
A weighted diagnostic scores the whole business on one scale and refuses to let a proud domain hide a neglected one. A Commercial Assessment adds the evidence a self-score can't.
